Unfazed by Hell. On hypocrisy

My best eavesdropping moment was on a train in Rome when I heard a relaxed and modest sounding middle aged Italian priest on his mobile telling the person on the other end that no action seemed to be necessary then, but that by the end of the following week it might prove necessary (per adesso lascia così, ma per la fine della settimana prossima … ). He thought he was defying his power of coercion but he was playing into his hands by dividing (now /then) and demonizing. And this is what is called hypocrisy.
